The Mazda CX-30 wins a 2019 Golden Steering Wheel in the SUV/crossover category for vehicles up to 4.4 m long.
This is Mazda’s fifth award in this reader’s choice contest and the first award of this model. The previous winners are the Mazda 323 in 1985 and 1989, the Mazda 626 in 1992 and the Mazda2 in 2014.
The prize was given to the president of Mazda Motor Europe in Berlin yesterday.
The Skyactiv-X gasoline engine uses compression ignition like a diesel over wide operating ranges.
The Golden Steering Wheel contest is held for the 43rd time. It honors the best automotive innovations of the year.
Bild am Sonntag and Auto Bild readers vote for a favorite from 58 cars in 7 classes. There are also “Most Beautiful Car” and “Innovation of the Year” awards.
Three leaders were selected in each cetegory. Their test drives took place last month in Lausitzring.
The jury of 14 racing drivers and automotive experts preferred the Mazda CX-30. It overtook the Volkswagen T-Cross and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.
The all-new Mazda CX-30 sits between the CX-3 and CX-5. The model made its debut at the 2019 Genera Motor Show in March. It unites the compact size and good interior space, practicality and advance engine technology.
