Lotus Eletre Debuts on March 29: What Is It?

An all-new, pure electric, performance SUV called Lotus Eletre will be unveiled tomorrow, on March 29, 2022.

The Lotus Eletre is the first electric car of the Hethel-based British manufacturer of sports and racing cars. This is one of two electric vehicles Lotus plans to make in China and to launch in the next 5 years.

The brand’s post on Twitter informs that the new model is “coming to life on 29.3.22”. The car was previously known under the name “Type 132” and could be seen in renderings, design patents, and teasers.

When the Eletre hits the market, it will compete with such models as the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Jaguar I-Pace, or the Audi E-tron Sportback. Lotus will build the SUV at a new plant in Wuhan, China.

The Lotus Eletre will be available in two four-wheel-drive versions with 600-750 horsepower, 92-120-kWh battery packs offering 800-volt charging. It is able to sprint from zero to 62 mph in less than 3.0 seconds.

Visually, the Eletre’s angular styling treatment resembles the Lotus Emira sports car. It features a prominent rear spoiler, an active aero panel, alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, thin wing mirror cameras, a sloping roofline, crescent-shaped headlamps, and a grille-shutter with a special multiple triangles pattern that serves both for cooling and improving aerodynamics.
