A world premiere of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept took place on March 30, 2021.
Yesterday Lexus announced initiatives for the transformation of the brand through its “Lexus Concept Reveal Show”.
The LF-Z Electrified Concept is a battery electric vehicle incorporating driving performance, style, new technologies the company wants to realize by 2025.
The model adopts a BEV-dedicated platform and a new four-wheel driving force control technology “DIRECT4”. It enables to finely control the vehicle’s posture according to human senses and inputs.
The LF-Z Electrified evolves the “Lexus Driving Signature” driving experience that aims for a linear response including the connecting deceleration, acceleration, steering in all driving situations. The car achieves an ideal balance and inertia by optimal positioning of motors and a battery.
The car’s open and minimalist interior is equipped with a “Tazuna” (“rein” in Japanese) cockpit. Switches of the steering wheel and a head-up display are highly coordinated to allow performing various functions (navigation, audio, driving modes) while concentrating on driving.
While the cockpit is a key focal point, the low position of the instrument panel relative to the occupants expresses minimalism and space which offer true Omotenashi. The augmented reality head-up display, gauges, touch display, and other information functions are grouped into a single module. Driving system functions are concentrated around the steering wheel.
The model uses Artificial Intelligence (Al) as a lifestyle concierge which proposes routes, restaurant reservations through a dialogue with the driver and based on the driver’s preferences and behavioral traits the system learned.
Other ‘goodies’ include a digital key, an E-Latch system making door opening/closing smoother and safer; a panoramic roof with electrochromic glass, entertainment functions, a touch panel in the center; reclining rear seats with a massage function and, finally, the next-gen Mark Levinson audio system.
