The new Land Rover Defender SUV will premiere in 2019. New teasers dedicated to the World Land Rover Day are being shown to fans.
Today, on April 30, Land Rover celebrates the World Land Rover Day. The iconic Land Rover Series I debuted on this day 71 years ago at the show in Amsterdam.
Last year the carmaker organized great celebrations to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the brand. This year they’ve showed new teasers of the upcoming Land Rover Defender.
Test prototypes have already run more than 1.5 mln km (0.9 mln miles) in testing, including in Kenya, where they demonstrate their off-road and towing capacities.
The overall test program consists of more than 45,000 tests in different parts of the world, such as the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and beyond the Arctic Circle, from -40°C to +50°C.
The new Defender will receive a 3- or 5-door body with short and long wheelbases, respectively. A single-cab pick-up is expected later.
The premiere date has not been officially named yet. Land Rover promises to unveil the model in late 2019, may be in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show or another event.
