Land Rover adds new versions to the Defender lineup: a 518-hp Defender V8, a flagship Defender V8 Carpathian Edition and a XS Edition.

The Land Rover Defender V8 brings 4×4’s class-leading capability, new levels of performance.

The model is available in both 90 and 110 body designs and recalls the heritage of 8-cylinder Land Rovers from the 1970s.

It combines a powerful 518-hp (525 PS) 5.0-liter eight-cylinder, supercharged gasoline engine with expertly developed suspension, transmission tuning, and bespoke chassis settings.

The vehicle accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and achieves the top speed of 149 mph (Defender 90).

A new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen in the cabin is now available for the intuitive Pivi Pro infotainment system, as well as wireless device charging. The display is over 60% larger than the existing 10-inch one.

The Carpathian Edition is based on the Defender V8. This version adds specific styling elements: the Carpathian Grey finish, Narvik Black contrast roof, hood, tail door; bespoke V8 Carpathian Edition badging, Satin Black towing eyes, and distinctive Xenon Blue brake calipers.

The new XS Edition replaces the successful First Edition, sits above the SE trim, and combines unique exterior and interior treatment with specification enhancements. This variant is also available in both 90 and 110 body designs.

It comes with body-colored lower cladding, lower wheel arches, unique 20-inch wheels.

An electronic air suspension and a 3.0-liter inline-six engine are additionally available. Color choices include Santorini Black, Silicon Silver, Gondwana Stone, Hakuba Silver.

Moreover, the company expands the model’s personalization potential with new exterior packages: Bright Pack, Extended Bright Pack, and Extended Black Pack.

Prices (OTR) for the new 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 start at £98,505 for the 90 and £101,150 for the 110 in Great Britain.

Expect American prices will start around $85,000 (Defender 90) and $90,000 (the 110 models).
