Kia Niro Hybrids Enter the New Model Year, Prices Announced

Kia has refreshed its US-spec hybrid and plug-in hybrid Niro crossovers for the 2021 model year.

The updates for 2021 include:

  • newly added standard Rear Occupant Alert;
  • standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto;
  • new Remote Engine Start for models with Smart Key;
  • MapCare program with 10 years of complimentary map updates for navigation-equipped vehicles;
  • Smart Cruise Control and Curve (NSCC-C) added on the Niro with navigation

The crossover’s powertrain consists of a 1.6-liter GDI engine and an electric motor with the total output of 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The HEV comes with a 1.56 kWh lithium ion polymer hybrid battery. The base LX model’s combined fuel economy is 50 mpg EPA-rated. 

The PHEV comes with a a 8.9-kWh lithium ion polymer plug-in hybrid battery. The fuel economy is 46 mpg (combined) for all trims. The all-electric range at full charge is 26 miles. The 2021 Kia Niro plug-in hybrid is eligible for a $4,543 federal tax credit.
