Kia has introduced its hot GT version of the Ceed hatchback designed and assembled in Europe. It will debute in October 2018 in Paris and go on sale early 2019.
It will join the lineup of already presented modifications of the new-generation model. The five-door hatch is a good choice for motorists who want more power than the regular car can provide, though it’ll hardly be able to compete with the VW Golf GTI or the Ford Focus ST.
The main innovation is a 1.6-liter engine which develops 201 hp and 265 Nm of torque, paired with a standard 6-speed manual of an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
A function of selecting the operating modes (normal or sports), with sharper response and faster switch, combines with the automatic transmission.
Among other things, the new Ceed GT is equipped with reinforced brakes, retuned steering, new 18-inch wheels, different bumpers, an exhaust system with new tips. In the interior there are sports seats and a special decor.
The premiere of the 2019 Kia Ceed GT will take place in October 2018 at the Paris Motor Show. Its production starts In November at the brand’s plant in Slovakia, where other modifications of the model are also assembled. The hot hatchback will go on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
