Kia EV9 3-Row SUV Goes Into Production Next Year

The Korean carmaker has confirmed that its all-new fully electric Kia EV9 SUV will be put into production in 2023, and the first market it arrives in is Europe.

The Kia EV9 is a global model. It will enter not only Europe but North America and other markets too, each in its time. What we know now is that a production version based on the Concept EV9 will be available to Europeans next year. The concept car debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2021.

The Kia EV9 is a large vehicle with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm (122 inches) and a length of 4,930 mm (194 in). It is similar in size to the popular Kia Telluride and can accommodate seven people in three rows of seats but unlike the Telluride, the EV9 is less utilitarian, more futuristic, and hi-tech.

The SUV has a solar panel mounted into the hood and uses sustainable materials sourced from ocean debris in the cabin that features a pop-up steering wheel and a 27-inch ultra-wide display.

Moreover, the Kia EV9 will share an extended version of the e-GMP platform and some components with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, but the Kia SUV’s wheelbase is 10o mm (3.9 in) shorter. The e-GMP also underpins smaller Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

Kia claims the EV9’s range is 300 miles (482 km) on a full charge. The model got an 800-volt architecture that allows fast charging.
