Kia’s largest crossover – the Telluride 8-seater – has been finally introduced at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.
Thus, the Korean brand entered the SUV segment which is new for Kia, though the Americans consider it to be mid-size.
Motor enthusiasts have waited for the Kia Telluride. It took three years between arrivals of a concept (also premiered in Detroit) and a production version.
The model was developed in and for the USA. They will assemble the Telluride in Georgia at one of Kia’s car factories.
Of course, the unusual design draws attention. A ‘tiger nose’ radiator grille is typical for Kia, but angles and straight lines, the rigor of a full-fledged SUV is something new to the brand. Moreover, the Telluride for sale looks much more aggressive than its own concept.
The official photos demonstrate the new crossover is good for both highways and cross country. Furthermore, the vehicle is able to pull a trailer weighing up to 2,270 kg.
The Telluride received a 297-hp LAMBDA II six-cylinder engine coupled with an 8-speed gearbox that transmits torque to all wheels.
Full drive is a very important thing. Specialists claim that the AWD versions of the large Volkswagen Atlas (a direct competitor of the Kia Telluride in the U.S.) are more promising, especially when combined with a V6 motor.
The new Kia crossover’s price is still unknown. The Atlas will cost $30,895 in the United States. The Kia Telluride will be a bit expensive, we suppose.
