Jaguar introduces its first virtual all-electric race car – the Vision Gran Turismo Coupé designed from the ground for a famous computer game.
The futuristic pure electric all-wheel-drive Jaguar Vision GT Coupe will debut during the Sony Gran Turismo World Tour at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in October 26-27.
A team of young designers developed this race car. It is Jaguar’s DNA embodiment. The coupe is inspired by the Jaguar C-, D-, E-Type race cars in terms of design, and by the Jaguar I-Type 4 Formula E and the I-PACE eTrophy in terms of technical features and performance.
This virtual sports EV is made of experimental lightweight materials. Its 50×50 distributed weight is just 3087 lb (1400 kg). The car’s rigid monocoque structure comprises carbon and the latest aluminum alloys.
Developers create a unique sound environment for a pilot to immerse into the racing atmosphere. Stylish details include hologram technology. The car has an onboard artificial intelligence system called “KITT-E”.
Three compact motors, one for front wheels and two for rear ones, produce 1020 hp (750 kW) and 885 lb-ft (1200 Nm). Players will be able to accelerate in less than 2.0 seconds from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h). The top speed is 200 mph (322 km/h).
From the end of November, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupe will be available to download in the Gran Turismo Sport game for the Sony PlayStation 4.
