Isuzu Develops A Rival For Dacia Duster And Hyundai Creta
Isuzu plans to join the battle for customers in the compact SUV segment. A new model development is already underway.
Today Isuzu offers trucks, buses, a D-Max pickup truck and a MU-X off-road SUV on the global market. In the future the model range will be expanded. The company is working on a compact crossover.
There are no details about the upcoming new product including the timing of its premiere. Isuzu claims the crossover will be a global model. Its potential rivals are the Dacia Duster, Hyundai Creta and the subcompact Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
We’d like to remind that Isuzu developed the D-Max and MU-X models in partnership with General Motors. Therefore, the pickup is the closest relative of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, the SUV is a converted Chevrolet Trailblazer.
According to preliminary data, the Japanese carmaker will continue to cooperate with GM and possibly create the new crossover together with the American company.
By the way, the Isuzu D-Max (pictured) enters the TOP 100 global best-sellers. According to focus2move, in January-July of 2018 more than 176,000 Isuzu pickups (+0.2%) were sold in the world. So, this is the 69th place in the ranking. It is mainly in demand in Asian countries.
