Hyundai and Kia Electric Vehicles Outperform Others in Charging Speeds

Hyundai and Kia electric cars have turned out to be the fastest-charging ones, according to a recent study.

EVs made by Hyundai Motor Company, namely the Hyundai Ioniq 6, 5, and the Kia EV6 models, have proved to charge the fastest. They lead in Edmunds’s ranking of EV charging speeds. Experts have made a real-world test, the first of its kind, of 43 electric vehicles with different batteries and claimed charging times. The purpose was to measure how quickly a car adds range to its battery at a fast charger or, simply, how long your stoppage for recharging will last during a road trip.

The result is curious. The TOP 5 includes only Hyundai Motor Company’s models, with the exception of the Porshe Taycan 4S (4th place, 690 mi/hr). The Hyundai Ioniq 6 showed the best result (1st place) of 868 miles per hour in a single-motor Limited RWD variant and 764 mi/hr (3rd place) in a Limited AWD dual-motor configuration. The 2nd is the Kia EV6 Wind RWD (769 mi/hr), and the EV6 GT Line is the 5th with 678 mi/hr.

The 6 to 10 places are taken by the Ioniq 5, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Genesis Electrified G80, Porsche Taycan GTS, and Tesla Model 3 Long Range – with numbers from 673 to 569 miles per hour. The Chevrolet Bolt and Bold EUV Premier, alas, lag behind in the ranking: 42-43th places, 179 and 172 mi/hr, respectively.
