Hyundai Previews a Fully New Small Crossover for Europe

Hyundai’s new model called the Bayon get a style of its own, and will compete against such vehicles as the Ford Puma or the Toyota Yaris Cross.

A pair of teaser images reveals a black hatch, boomerang-shaped lights connected by a light bar, a broad air intake; thin LED daytime running lights positioned rather high on the front fascia, and three-piece headlights under.

The Hyundai Bayon is apparently smaller than the Venue (in the upper photo). The crossover will get power from a petrol 3-cylinder engine, and be some alternate to the Hyundai i20.

Hyundai will launch the Bayon during the first half of this year. The model will definitely be launched in Europe. Other markets are in question.

As for the “Bayon” name, it refers to the Khmer temple in Cambodia (”Prasat Bayon”), or the city in the southwest of France (fr “Bayonne”). Or Hyundai may have in mind something else.
