The Korean automaker has released official photos of the midsize Genesis GV80 crossover, the first SUV of Hyundai’s own premium sub-brand.
So, Hyundai Motor enters the premium SUV segment, all-new for the company.
In the USA, the new vehicle will challenge to the popular Japanese crossovers: the Infiniti QX60, Lexus RX, Acura MDX.
The GV80 is designed on a Genesis-specific platform. All-wheel drive will be offered as an option.
The rest of the technical details, prices and a launch date will be announced by the carmaker later. In our opinion, the GV80 will go on sale in late spring – early summer 2020.
Genesis, Hyundai Motor’s luxury sub-brand, was founded in 2015. Only the G70, G80, G90 sedans are currently present on the market.
The GV80 has become the fourth model in the Genesis’ lineup and the first crossover of the brand. A full-size GV90 SUV will debut later on.
