Next week, on Thursday, Hyundai Motor will introduce an all-new 2022 Elantra N for North America.
The virtual premiere will take place at 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time or 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time, and can be watched on the official site or YouTube channel of Hyundai USA.
The Hyundai Elantra N rounds out the N lineup of ‘Everyday Sports Cars.’ Unlike the regular Elantra, this high-performance version boasts strong, dynamic driving capabilities and aggressive design thanks to more than forty specific N elements.
Under the hood of the global Elantra N, there is a gasoline 2-liter flat turbo-four engine that produces 276 horsepower (280HP) and 289 pound-feet of torque. The power unit has a bigger 2.047-inch (52 mm) turbine wheel and an optimized cylinder block to make a flat torque curve.
An 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission sends power to the front wheels via a front-axle limited-slip differential. The model achieves a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The sedan accelerates from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.3 seconds.
The Hyundai Elantra sells well in North America. This year, in the USA, Hyundai sold 47,964 units in the 2nd quarter (2nd result among the brand’s models), and 87,160 units year-to-date.
In Canada, 7,526 Elantras were sold in Q2 (3rd place), and 15,075 units YTD, 2021.
