The Ram 1500 truck is associated with potency and towing capability but not with eco-friendliness. Nevertheless, its EcoDiesel version has earned the 2023 Green Truck of the Year.
The 2023 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has won the 2023 Green Truck of the Year award from Green Car Journal. This impresses against the backdrop of information that the company is giving up diesel engine options in Jeep and Ram models.
In addition to a 3.6-liter eTorque Pentastar V6, a 5.7-liter eTorque HEMI V8 and a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, the automaker offers a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine for all Ram 1500’s versions and configurations.
What is remarkable about the Ecodiesel and why it is awarded
The 3rd-generation 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged EcoDiesel delivers best-in-class torque of 480 pound-feet at 1,600 rpm and robust 260 horsepower at 3,600 rpm.
This engine features excellent fuel economy and a minimal NVH level (noise, vibration, and harshness) level. The range covered by the vehicle between fill-ups exceeds 1,000 miles.
If the engine is so good, why refuse it? Times have changed, one era replaces another. Now it’s time for electric vehicles, and a battery-electric Ram 1500 will be introduced in 2024.
