The Chevrolet C8 Corvette with mid-engine layout will offer several spin-offs, but it seems they will delay due to the COVID-19 issues and over-demand for the conventional Corvette.
The Chevy C8 Vette is available in Stingray form. The model lineup will include such versions as a hybrid E-Ray, hot Z06, an EV, and a hypercar-challenging Zora. It is already clear that the carmaker has to push them back.
In particular, customers of the high-performance Z06 variant powered by a 5.5L flat-plane-crankshaft V8 engine that makes 600 hp will have to wait – possibly, until 2023. Although, if not the pandemic and its consequences, the model could hit dealers’ showrooms this summer. The company has been conducting road tests of the Z06.
Chevrolet had to cut short the 2020 model year C8s. Order books for the second, 2021-model-year cars are quickly filling up. The company will begin taking orders for the third-model-year 2022 Corvette very soon – from July 1, 2021.
Other than regular C8 Corvettes will be available to customers …someday. Not this year and hardly next year.
Will follow the news about the production and delivery timelines of the model and its versions.
