This week, the manufacturer has announced that deliveries of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 heavy-duty pickup will start in December 2021.

The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, the only version available for the first year of sales, will be soon in the hands of the first owners: the company has reported the start of deliveries.

General Motors recorded about 125,000 pre-orders, but we don’t know how many of them will convert to real sales. The model is not for everyone, but only for big fans who are wealthy enough to afford the $112,595 Hummer Edition 1. Less expensive variants should come next year and in 2023.

Performance of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 impresses: it delivers 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, covers 329 miles of range, tows up to 7,500 lbs, hauls up to 1,300 lbs, and needs just 3.0 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 mph. Please note that the vehicle weighs unprecedented 9,046 lbs or 4.5 tons.

It’s important to add that the GMC Hummer is the first electric vehicle of General Motors sitting on the proprietary Ultium battery platform.

Such pickups as the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and the Tesla Cybertruck can be more-less referred to competitors of the GMC Hummer EV.
