Apple is close to completing the deal with Hyundai-Kia to produce an electric car under the Apple brand at the Kia assembly plant in West Point, Georgia.

CNBC has reported this. It is still unclear exactly what the first Apple Car will look like. Insiders say the car will be fully autonomous, “focused on the last mile”, and even without a driver’s seat.

That could mean that Apple cars, at least initially, will be oriented on package food delivery operations and companies which incorporate robotaxis.

Apple wants to build a vehicle in North America with an established automaker that will allow the technology giant to control in-car software and hardware.

Why Hyundai-Kia? it is possible that Apple will partner with other car manufacturers to achieve its goal.

The team of Apple’s developers has been working on the ‘Apple Car’ to launch it into production presumably in 2024.

For Apple, the solution to make a vehicle opens the potential to tap a global automotive and mobility market.

For Hyundai-Kia, the collaboration with Apple means a chance to accelerate the development of their own electric self-driving cars.
