Ford and Rivian Included in TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2022

Two automakers, namely Ford and Rivian, have been included in the list of TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2022.

On March 30, 2022, TIME revealed its second TIME100 Most Influential Companies list that highlighted businesses having an extraordinary impact worldwide. The companies are distributed in the list per five categories: Pioneers, Titans, Leaders, Innovators, and Disruptors.

Ford got into the group of Titans, where there are such giants as Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Apple, and Disney. Rivan found itself in the group of Innovators together with Moderna, Wyze, Athletic Brewing Company, Flexport, or NoTraffic.

Nominations across multiple sectors, from health care to automotive production, were solicited by TIME from Industry experts, a global network of correspondents and editors. Then TIME evaluated each nomination by such key factors as leadership, innovation, success, impact, relevance, and ambition.

Why Ford?

Ford electrifies cars, SUVs, and pickups contributing to climate change mitigation and leading the EV revolution. The company’s approach of electrifying its most popular models, like the all-time bestseller F-Series, has worked: demand for the F-150 Lightning pushed Ford’s market value over $100 billion in January for the first time. The Ford Mustang Mach has also played a significant role.

Why Rivian?

TIME considers Rivian a hugely influential company, as it pushed the automotive industry to adopt a more widespread embrace of electric vehicles.

The Rivian R1T pickup racked up 83,000 reservations, and this fact induced mainstream car manufacturers, such as General Motors and Ford, to accelerate market launches of electric versions of their popular pickups.

The California-based company even lent a prototype to Ford its team built on Rivian’s electrified platform with a Ford F-150 body.

Interestingly, General Motors, Volkswagen, and BYD were honored last year in the TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2021 list.
