The Blue Oval has modified the Ford Transit to turn it into an up-to-day Ford Supervan, the electric vehicle set to debut at the forthcoming 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Ford Transit is a popular model that belongs to the light commercial vehicle class and needs no introduction. But have you ever heard about the Ford Supervan? The boxy Transit Supervans with screaming racing-derived V8 engines were once wildly popular as demonstration vehicles.
Now Ford Performance returns the model in a modern all-electric guise. The new Supervan is built on the basis of the Ford Transit or rather its all-electric variants – E-Transit (upper picture) and E-Transit Custom. Today they are the only Ford Pro EVs available on sale.
On June 23-26, 2022, the Supervan concept will be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, Autocar reports. Ford has previewed the vehicle in a teaser video it posted to social media.
The first Supervan concept arrived in 1971, the second – in 1983, and the third – in 1994. Expect the new Ford Supervan will generate significantly more power than the current Ford E-Transit’s 181-hp or 265-hp electric motors, and in general, will be more capable in terms of performance.
The Ford Transit Courier, Transit Custom, and Tourneo Courier, Tourneo Custom will receive four pure electric derivatives by 2024.
