On Friday’s fireside chat with Bank of America, Ford teased a “white space” vehicle for 2021, and this is most likely the Maverick small pickup truck.
The modern half-ton trucks like the F-150 or the Ram 1500 are proportionate to 3/4-ton and full-ton trucks of the same time period.
In other words, the pickup trucks have significantly grown both in size and price. Today there is nothing like the former Ranger or Dodge Dakota on the U.S. market.
And the small 2021 Ford Maverick is apparently coming to fill the gap.
It has been already represented in spy shots, patent drawings, trademark filings. According to the early reports, it will ride on Ford’s flexible unibody C2 platform also used on the current Europe-spec Ford Focus, the new Escape, and the newcomer Bronco Sport.
