Insiders say the next-generation Ford Ranger will have an option with a 367-horsepower efficient hybrid powertrain.
CarExpert has informed of this based on sources of its own, in particular, of the next-generation engines, including a hybrid one.
The PHEV powertrain of the Ford Ranger, as well as the Everest SUV, will produce up to 270 kW (367 hp) and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque, and have the combined fuel consumption of 78 mpg (3.0 l/100 km).
Perhaps, the new Ranger will receive the same hybrid system as the Ford Escape: a 2.5-liter 4.0-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
In addition to the gasoline hybrid, two diesel engines will be on offer. The 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine will be discontinued.
The Ford Ranger Raptor will get a turbo diesel V6 to replace the 2.0-liter twin-turbo engine.
The official debut of the new-generation Ranger and Everest may take place at the end of this year. They’ll go on sale in 2021 as the 2022 models.
