The all-new Ford Maverick’s bed is just 4.5 feet, but the carmaker made sure that the owner could do all possible “truck things”.
The Maverick has a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds and offers a standard bed liner. From the factory, Ford made the bed to allow developing DIY (do-it-yourself) solutions.
The pickup’s bed is able to accommodate a 4×8 sheet of plywood, though it won’t fit between the wheel wells. The bed also has formed-in supports. They allow owners to load the sheet in level. To keep plywood flat, you can lock the tailgate at 45° to align its height with the supports. The tailgate can support up to 400 pounds in this position.
In addition, you can stretch the load floor to 6 feet with the fully extended tailgate.
The Ford Maverick has two pre-wired 12-volt pickups behind grommets at the bed’s rear to add powered aftermarket accessories. An optional 400-watt 110-volt outlet available in the bed helps power basic tools or tailgating accessories.
An under-seat storage bin beneath the second row serves for items that are too valuable for the bed, but too dirty for the cabin floor.
