Ford Maverick Compact Pickup Spotted on the Assembly Line

An image of the Ford Maverick on the assembly line at the Hermosillo plant has recently leaked, meaning the truck is approaching to its reveal.

Ford’s compact crew-cab pickup will almost certainly wear a Maverick badge. It has been much rumored about for a long time.

Now there are some signs that point at its debut this year (assumedly in H2), with sales to start as soon as late 2021.

The Maverick sits under the midsize Ford Ranger. The model shares its unibody transverse-engine architecture with the Bronco Sport and Escape. Nevertheless, judging by the latest photo, its front end differs from that of the relative Bronco Sport.

Expect the Maverick’s interior will have similar features with those two crossovers, as well as engine / drive / transmission choices. A hybrid version is also possible.

Back in 2019, Ford said its new small pickup would have a price below $20,000. The Bronco Sport starts at $26,820 (base price without fees, taxes, destination charge).

It seems unlikely that the pickup truck could be cheaper than the SUV. It’d be more realistic if the Ford Maverick’s price tag will significantly exceed $20,000.
