Ford and Google have created the “F-150 Lightning: Strike Anywhere” augmented reality experience to educate customers.
Ford partnered with Google to create a unique visual experience for the F-150 Lightning reservation holders, buyers, enthusiasts. The service is named “F-150 Lightning™: Strike Anywhere” and powered by Google Cloud.
It is now available for Americans on Android and iOS mobile devices, Ford.com, social media platforms. It allows users to view and learn about a virtual electric pickup in their own environment with a smartphone.
13 interactive animations inform about key features, services, and functions of the Ford F-150 EV, in particular, about the vehicle’s frunk and bed functionality, connectivity, towing, charging, etc. In addition, users can select colors and packages, as well as place an augmented-reality truck anywhere in their own environment.
According to Ford’s survey regarding the F-150 Lightning, 79 percent of surveyed say this model will be the first BEV in their household, 56 percent say this is their first-ever Ford vehicle.
As we earlier informed, customers have already placed more than 160,000 reservations for the electric F-150. The highest number of them came from Californians, Texans, and Floridians.
