The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has strong demand judging by the fact that more than 160,000 customers have already pre-ordered it. Interestingly, most reservations come from first-time EV purchasers.
The Blue Oval has invested an additional $850 million to double the planned production of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
Nevertheless, the first-model-year vehicles will be built in a limited run. Why should the company increase production? – Because the all-electric F-150 Lightning is in strong demand. Its introduction was risky, but it looks like Ford made the right decision.
Moreover, the company has revealed that 79% of the F-150 Lightning reservation holders buy an electric vehicle for the very first time. So, this particular model is their first EV, a guide to the new world of electrification. The number of reservations has already exceeded 160K.
Americans, being a rather conservative nation, trust the F-150 model and the Ford brand so much that they are ready to change their conventional internal combustion car to a pure electric vehicle.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning goes on sale in the spring of 2022. Pre-production has already started.
