The sporty ST version will get some interior improvements.
A number of High Gloss Black interior trim accents will be added on the cockpit and doors to come in line with the ST-specific exterior that features black trim pieces including wheels and a grille.
The Ford Explorer ST comes with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 making 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. It pairs only a 10-speed automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel-drive.
Ford opened order books for the 2021 Explorer on July 13. The start of production is scheduled for September, 21, 2020 at the Chicago Assembly Plant. This is also the facility where the Lincoln Aviator is build, which the Explorer shares its platform with.
The carmaker introduced the six-generation Ford Explorer in 2019. The current model is only in the second year of manufacture, so major changes are not expected.
We don’t know for now what will be different for the regular 2021 Explorer. Probably, Ford will add some new colors and delete some old ones.
Besides, a Sports Appearance Package will be available for 2021. A FX4 off-road package is possible as well.
