Ford EcoSport Leaves USA, Production Ends by Summer 2022

The Blue Oval discontinues the Ford EcoSport in America. The latest reports say its production should end in May.

The final 2022 Ford EcoSport vehicles will be produced on May 29, 2022, though the date can still change. Well, the model is leaving the U.S. market following the Indian market it left last year, according to Ford Authority.

By the way, the U.S.-spec Ecosport has not been available for order since January, when Ford closed order books. The manufacturer, however, will continue to build and sell the crossover in Europe.

The 2022 Ford Ecosport is a refreshed model. The most significant changes are the removal of the Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost I-3 engine from the lineup and making the all-wheel-drive system a standard offer. The base and the only engine now is a 2.0L I-4 with 122 horsepower. The current pricing (MSRP) is $21,990 (S trim), $25,460 (SE trim), $28,155 (SES trim), and $28,345 (Titanium trim).

The Ford Ecosport is being criticized by car experts for its few standard safety features, rather slow acceleration, limited driver visibility, a harsh ride, and an underpowered engine compared to rivals, such as the Kia Soul or the Hyundai Kona, for example. So, its discontinuation may be justified in several aspects.
