MINI is working on it first all-electric car to unveil it later this year in honor of the brand’s 60th anniversary. It will be a hot hatchback called MINI Copper S E.
The new vehicle is based on a three-door hatch and adapted UKL1 platform. It will likely inherit the BMW i3 S’s electric motor and a battery pack delivering 184 hp and about 200 miles (322 km) of electric driving range.
Mini believes that their new car will be a worthy representative of the brand which is very good for both urban use and performance due to compact dimensions, agility, instant responses and a greater control of each wheel the electric motor provides.
Visually it will look similar to a regular Cooper S hot hatchback, but with traits of the 2017 MINI Electric Concept (upper photo), two in one, so to say.
The Cooper S E will enter the market after its reveal in the 2nd half of 2019. Its estimated price for Europe is roughly from €33,000.
