Specialists of the French journal Auto Moto conducted a comparative analysis of two Audi crossovers – a compact Q2 and a larger Q3.
The Audi Q2 debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in early spring of 2016. The 2019 Audi Q3 premiered in July 2018, but experts took for comparison its previous 2017 version.
The 2017 Audi Q2 (pictured above) is the smallest crossover in the brand’s lineup. Its overall length is 4,190 mm. The vehicle is ideal for urban areas where parking is a problem. Like the Audi Q3, the “younger brother” is based on the MQB platform, but it is lighter by about 120 kg.
Having smaller dimensions, the Q2 is not so practical, but engineers paid much attention to space in the cabin.
As for pricing, the Audi Q2 is cheaper than Audi Q3 on average by €3,000. This difference was planned even during the development of the small crossover and became one of the project’s incentives.
The Q2’s interior with its digital instrument cluster is more up-to-date than that of the Q3. We remind, it’s about the previous Q3, recently replaced by the new-generation model.
Tests of both models with the same 2.0 liter diesel engine and S tronic automatic transmission proved the Q3 had better soundproofing in the cabin, while the Q2 had better fuel efficiency.
The smaller crossover, according to experts, is more fun-to-drive.
