Every PSA’s Model Will Be Hybrid Or All-electric From 2019

PSA Group electrifies the models of all brands it owns – Opel, Vauxhall, Citroen Peugeot and DS. From 2019 every model of the concern will receive a hybrid or an all-electric modification.

The company has made an official announcement about readiness to electrify each brand lineup.

From next year, every new model will initially be designed either in a hybrid version. An electric motor is paired with a petrol or a diesel one, or in a fully electric.

Within next two years, 15 new electrified models will arrive, including hybrid variants of the Peugeot 3008 (pictured) and Peugeot 508. The all-electric DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, followed then by the DS 7 Crossback and Opel Grandland X hybrid crossovers.

PSA transfers its cars to a new platform designed for hybrid powertrains. Peugeot and Citroen have long used the EMP2 architecture. A completely new Common Modular Platform (CMP) has been prepared for new compact models.

The approach is the same as that of Volkswagen with its MQB platform. A single structure is adapted to different models like the VW Golf, Skoda Kodiaq and Audi TT. PSA Group promises the new architecture allows the use of all types of powertrains.

So, the company will be able to produce not only petrol and diesel cars, but also hybrids and electric vehicles at the same production site. The data of which powerplants are used in hybrids and EVs will appear later.

The DS premium brand promises the batteries in its models will be charged from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.
