Already in 2022, several completely new electric vehicles from the affordable price segment will enter the American market at once.
Specifically, Nissan is planning an Ariya e-SUV. Chevrolet has an all-electric Silverado, Blazer and Equinox. Ford is preparing to sell the F-150 Lightning. However, pickup trucks of longtime competitors are likely to be expensive.
Electric crossover cousins Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X are also expected in the US in 2022. Their price is not yet known.
In the meantime, the list is not very long: electric vehicles in the USA are only gaining popularity. As for current models, the cars under $40,000 are as follows:
Nissan LEAF | $27,400 |
MINI Cooper Electric SE | $29,900 |
Chevrolet Bolt EV | $31,500 |
Hyundai IONIQ Electric | $33,245 |

Ford Mustang Mach-E | $43,895 |
Audi Q4 e-tron | $43,900 |
