Mercedes-Benz promises to launch an Mercedes-Benz G-Class EV in the next few years.
Daimler AG Chairman, Ola Källenius, previously announced the plan to offer a G-Wagen with zero emissions.
After the automaker unveiled the all-new plug-in hybrid GLA, CLA Coupe, CLA Shooting Brake this week, Mr. Källenius has confirmed they are developing a concept of the EV version of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic off-roader, CarAdvice informs.
The company has already prepared initial sketches and started to work on them. Therefore, the talks about discontinuing the G-Class turn out to be groundless.
The year 2019 was very successful for the model: its global sales grew by 60% (almost 35,000 vehicles) beating the 2017 record of 22,000 units.
Well, Mercedes has made a “very clear decision… that modern luxury is going to be sustainable”.
