The next, 6th-generation Honda CR-V is here: the carmaker has just unveiled it. The main distinguishing feature of the 2023 model is an all-new fourth-generation two-motor hybrid system.
Hybrid models – Sport and Sport Touring – top the 2023 Honda CR-V lineup. They are new flagships now and the most powerful CR-Vs ever. Honda wants them to represent half of the CR-V annual sales.
Why Honda CR-V is a Great Choice
The car’s acceleration is energetic, the ride is comfortable. Its interior with convenient roomy seats feels and looks upscale. Moreover, the CR-V offers excellent cargo capacity, one of the largest in the compact SUV segment, and good gas mileage.
With a solid combination of quality and value, the only weaknesses are the base model’s relatively short standard features list and somewhat irritating infotainment controls.
New Hybrid Powertrain of 2023 CR-V
Under the hood of Honda’s #1 crossover, there is a more powerful, advanced, sportier, and fuel-efficient hybrid-electric powertrain. It is more refined at highway speeds and offers a towing capacity of up to 1,000 lbs for the first time.
The new configuration of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors put side-by-side allows enlarging torque output.
The combined system output is 204 horsepower (3 hp more), while the traction-motor peak torque rises by 15 pound-feet to 247 pound-feet. The top speed is also increased: from 86 to 115 miles per hour.
In addition to Sport and Sport Touring hybrid variants, Honda updated a 1.5-liter Turbo engine for EX and EX-L trim levels.
Key Features
The newcomer’s key features include enhanced global Honda architecture, retuned real-time all-wheel drive with Intelligent Control, a sophisticated exterior design, bolder distinctive styling for Sport and Sport Touring trims, more space and comfort inside, and standard digital instrumentation.
A 9-inch HD touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is available, while a 7-inch display is standard.

What Else Is New
Airbags, Hill Descent Control, Snow driving mode, a wide-view camera and radar, Traffic Jam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition system, and Low-Speed Braking Control.
The 2023 Honda CR-V arrives this summer, but its hybrid models will be available later in 2022.
