Citroën C5 Aircross and Range Rover Evoque Got 4 And 5 Stars In Crash Tests

Euro NCAP has published their latest safety ratings. Two new SUVs – the Citroën C5 Aircross and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque achieved 4 Stars and the highest 5 Stars respectively.

The European New Car Assessment Program’s committee have conducted a series of crash tests for two models, both diesel-powered as predicted best-sellers.

The first testee is the small off-road 5-door Citroën C5 Aircross (pictured above). This model came to replace the C4 Aircross. Its standard safety equipment includes most modern safety features (a forward-looking camera, in particular) and gained 4 Stars of 5.

With the optional Safety+ Pack (adds cyclist detection and a radar sensor to the camera to enhance AEB) the rating increases to 5 Stars.

The results are as follows:

  • Driver and Adult Occupant – 87% (standard), 89% (Safety+ Pack);
  • Child Occupant – 86% (standard), 86% (Safety+ Pack);
  • Vulnerable road users (cyclists, pedestrians) – 58% (standard), 67% (Safety+ Pack);
  • Safety Assist – 75% (standard), 82% (Safety+ Pack).

The second testee is the second-generation Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

The results are as follows:

  • Driver and adult occupant – 94%;
  • Child occupant – 87%;
  • Vulnerable road users – 72%;
  • Safety Assist – 73%.
