Chevrolet confirms the launch of an all-electric Silverado pickup truck with General Motors’ Ultium battery packs. The model will be available in retail and fleet versions.
The automaker will assemble the electricity-powered Silverado at the same plant in Michigan where it builds the GMC Hummer EV.
We suppose the Chevrolet Silverado EV will arrive as a 2024 model in 2023 or 2024 as part of GM’s plan to offer 30 new electric models by 2025, mainly in North America.
Chevy promises a driving range of up to 400 miles. Expect the electric Silverado will offer a choice of battery sizes and drivetrains, analogous to the Hummer EV.
The all-electric version won’t be a substitution for the gasoline vehicle: the manufacturer will sell them simultaneously. The internal-combustion Chevrolet Silverado range will undergo an update for the 2022 model year.
It is not by chance that this pickup is the favorite of Americans. It offers several potent engines, the towing capacity is great and better than that of many rivals. We can add a roomy cabin, intuitive tech features, and the highest predicted reliability rating to the “piggy bank” of the Silverado’s advantages.
It remains to be hoped that the electric version of the Chevy Silverado will be well accepted, when it arrives.
