Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited Goes Away in 1st Quarter 2022

The manufacturer will discontinue the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited once the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 enters into production. How do these models differ?

According to the automaker, the refreshed 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will fully replace the Silverado 1500 Limited model, with the latter to be discontinued.  In other words, these two will not be sold simultaneously, unlike the new Ram 1500 and the previous-gen Ram 1500 Classic, for example, which coexist on the market.

Chevy launched the Silverado 1500 Limited to fill the gap between the pre-refresh 2021 Silverado 1500 and refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500.

So, this is an intermediate model which would not have been if it were not for complications and delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company was unable to launch the refreshed 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado on time, and came up with a temporary replacement for it – the Limited version.

Compared to the pre-refresh 2021 model, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited gets several insignificant modifications, differs a bit in pricing, and is slightly more efficient in terms of fuel consumption ratings.

Chevrolet began production of the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited at its plants in Mexico and Indiana on October 4, 2021. Customers can place orders now.

As for the ‘normal’ 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, the order books will open next month. The pickup made its official debut on September, 9, 2021. The production should start in the first quarter of 2022: logically, this means the production end for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited.

Expect the new, updated Silverado (not Limited) to begin arriving at U.S. dealers in the spring of next year.
