The Cadillac Lyriq will be the first to use General Motors’ innovative Ultium battery technology.
The automaker has recently released a teaser video that announces the Lyric will premiere on August 6, 2020 at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
Cadillac also promises to share “the next chapter for the brand.” It is probably about the e-mobility future of the company.
The scalable Ultium battery system will offer 50.0 kWh – 200.0 kWh sizes. The Lyriq’s battery pack should be near 100.0 kWh.
GM stated its partnership with LG Chem could result in cheaper batteries eventually making the cost of an electric on par with a gasoline-powered vehicle.
Expect the new SUV’s price will start from $75,000.
