An all-electric Cadillac Escalade full-size SUV will be available by 2025 at the latest.
General Motors promises the Cadillac Escalade with electric drive will not be a substitute for the regular gas-powered variant with a 6.2-liter 420-hp V8 engine. Both versions will be on offer for customers to have a choice.
The electric Escalade in a concept form looks not as boxy as the ICE-powered model. The vehicle has got more steeply raked windshield and unique sheet metal in its structure.
It will ride on GM’s new electric platform that allows unprecedentedly large-capacity battery packs of 200 kWh. The SUV will develop about 1000 hp getting power from three motors which drive both axles.
Besides, General Motors plans to launch another model in the fall of 2021: the GMC Hummer V SUT. This electric pickup truck will have the same three-motor setup as the mentioned Escalade.
While the Cadillac Escalade EV will arrive by 2025, the Escalade with an internal combustion engine (gasoline and diesel) goes on sale already this year as a 2021 model. The price starts from $75,000.
