The year of 2018 is over. It was full of car premieres. We’ve selected the TOP 5 brightest of them, to our mind, of course.
They all turned out to be crossovers. It is not surprising, given a constant growth of this market segment.
One of the most stylish and unique premieres of the Bavarian brand in recent years. The X2 is not as practical as its donor X1, but no doubt attracts attention with its sporty appearance. It is also worth noting a wide range of powerful engines, as well as a new concept of controllability and connectivity. The model’s MSRP starts from $36,400 in the USA.
Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen has recently switched to crossovers: C3 Aircross, C4 Cactus, and there are also premium DS 3 Crossback and DS 7 Crossback along with the mid-size C5 Aircross.
The latter is available in several versions including 1.6 PureTech 165, 1.5 BlueHDi 130 S & S and 2.0 HDi 180, all with an automatic transmission.
The all- new model is mostly designed for Europe and is, as they say, very promising. It costs from €23,290 in Germany.
Polestar, a hot brand of Volvo Car Group, introduced its first car, the Polestar 1, and will begin its production in mid-2019. Being a hybrid with electric features, the car can travel up to 150 km (93 miles). This is the longest electric-only range among all hybrids on the market.
In combination with a four-cylinder Volvo Drive-E engine, the Polestar 1 delivers 600 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. It is reported to cost from $155,000.
Most experts claim that the Q8 model is not just a coupe-like version of the Q7 crossover. This is a new model. It is offered with a 286 hp engine, an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, constant Quattro full-wheel drive and a mild-hybrid system. The starting price for the US car market is $67,400.
The highlight of the first electric car of the British brand is its practicality. The I-Pace is not the most efficient electric vehicle in the world in terms of energy consumption, but it is not as delicate as some other EVs. The base manufacturer’s suggested retail price is (MSRP) is $69,500.
It copes well with dirt roads and shallow snow and, generally speaking, is a full-fledged crossover, which can run not only through the city streets.
The powertrain capacity is 400 hp, and the range is 470 km (292 miles) on a single charge.
