The 2022 BMW M4 Competition Convertible xDrive has been unveiled.
All-wheel-drive will be available on the M4 Convertible for the first time. Moreover, this open-top cabrio loses a retractable hardtop and gains more power.
Under the hood, there is the M3’s 3.0-liter, twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine. It produces 503 hp (375 kW) and 649 lb.-ft., and operates in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
The car needs just 3.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The top speed is 155 mph. It increases to 174 mph with an optional M Driver’s Package. The vehicle’s top opens and closes within 18 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph.
By its appearance, the M4 Competition Convertible xDrive resembles the current droptop BMW 4 Series, except for some M-specific details: black surround for grilles, big openings in the lower fascia, more prominent side sills, a large rear diffuser, and circular tailpipes.
The model comes standard with forged wheels – 19-inch ones in front and 20-inch at the rear. There are six-piston fixed brake calipers with 14.96-inch rotors in front, and single-piston floating calipers with 14.57-inch discs at the rear. Ceramic rotors are optional.
In the cabin, there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen of the iDrive 7.0 operating system. The interior features heated sport seats as standard, Merino leather upholstery, optional M Carbon bucket seats made of CFRP.
The model goes on sale in October 2021, priced at $87,295 including destination.
