BMW M GmbH set a new sales record in 2019 acquiring market leadership in the performance / high performance car segment for the first time in its almost half a century history.
The manufacturer sold 135,829 vehicles worldwide, it’s a 32.2 percent rise compared to 2018.
The demand for M Sport Packages and exclusive optional equipment from BMW Individual increased last year. It is a proof of customers growing interest to hot cars.
In 2019, the BMW M company presented as many new vehicles within one single year, as never before. They include the X3 M, X4 M, M8 Coupe, M8 Convertible, Competition models.
The Unites States was the most important single market last year. The quantity of BMW M car sales increased to 44,442 there.
The second key market was Germany once again with 26,110 sales, followed by Great Britain with 17,688 units sold.
The share of BMW M automobiles in BMW’s total sales volume has steadily enlarged over the past years.
Switzerland is the frontrunner in this area. In this country, BMW M cars already account for more than 22% of BMW’s total sales.
The dealership network for BMW M vehicles has expanded by more than 90% during the past 5 years.
Variety of offers
BMW M’s offerings now encompass virtually all segments, from the BMW 1 Series, BMW X models and the BMW Z4 Roadster right up to the luxury class.
The BMW M135i xDrive, Z4 M40i, M340i xDrive Sedan, M340i xDrive Touring with M performance features are on offer today.
The BMW 2 Series, 5 Series, the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 have their BMW M variants as well.
In the luxury segment, BMW Motorsport GmbH offers the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe sports car, the BMW M 850i xDrive Gran Coupe and the BMW M760Li xDrive.
The performance models’ drive portfolio comprises engines with 4, 6, 8 and 12 cylinders, plus straight 6-cylinder diesels with M TwinPower Turbo Technology, which deliver an extremely high level of performance and torque.
Market launches and premieres in 2020
During 2020, the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and the corresponding Competition model will be available from dealers.
Besides, the new editions of the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M including each respective Competition model, as well as the BMW M2 CS will be launched during the coming months.
World premieres of the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupe will take place this year.
