BMW strives for a position in the luxury car segment. The BMW M8 Competition is one step more to its aim.
The Competition is a special luxury edition of BMW’s potent M models. Recently, the Bavarian automaker introduced the X3 M, X4 M, X5 M, X6 M crossovers with a ‘Competition’ nameplate. Now it’s time for the BMW 8 Series.
Exterior of the BMW Competition versions features a distinctive black chrome grille.
A conventional BMW M8 Coupe, a four-door BMW M8 Gran Coupe and a BMW M8 Convertible have a 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 625 hp (460 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.
An 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission delivers power to either four wheels or to the rear ones, depending on the mode selected.
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe Competition is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds.
The world premiere of the BMW M cars will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this fall. New items will be released to the market from April 2020.
