BMW Expands Digital Services by Adding New Options

After buying a BMW car, customers can further personalize it by activating vehicle functions or booking digital services.

Since 2014, customers can book digital services via BMW ConnectedDrive Store and adapt car functions to their individual needs over years.

BMW will add new digital options, which may be not available at the time of purchase or leasing, for customers to have a continual choice.

In May 2019, BMW launched Remote Software Upgrade that enables booking and unlocking of additional functions. Customers can download new digital features directly into the vehicle and install over the air then.

So, digital services are linked not to the car, but to the person who books them.

The range of digital services which can be ordered for activation at a later date, such as On-Street-Parking Information and BMW Music, is now being expanded.

In 2016, BMW Connected App added as one more step to digitalization.

High-Beam Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go and BMW Drive Recorder have been available since August 2019. The latter records video images of surroundings.

BMW Drive Recorder is available in some new models in conjunction with Parking Assistant Plus.

In the future, BMW is going to offer the Remote Engine Start or Adaptive M Suspension functions.

In the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, customers can test selected digital services for a time as a “teaser” with no obligation.

Depending on the service, BMW may offer teasers as soon as the vehicle is delivered. These services can then be extended or not via the Store for a set period of time.
