The BMW Concept XM model has debuted at the Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 show. The concept previews BMW M GmbH’s future high-performance X vehicles.

BMW M GmbH presented a radically new, completely reimaged vehicle – the BMW Concept XM – on November 29, 2021 at the dedicated event in Miami.

This XM will have a production version, and the manufacturer says it is the most powerful BMW M series car and the first pure M model since the BMW M1. It will be available with a sole plug-in hybrid powertrain and only as an M vehicle.

The BMW Concept XM previews a new front-end design of future BMWs, progressive exterior styling, an all-new sense of interior space, and next-step luxury.

The M Lounge interior features special materials (velvet upholstery, diamond quilting, leather, deep pile carpeting), visually powerful surfaces in warm brown and deep aquamarine, expressive details, the combination of indirect and direct ambient lighting.

The visual highlights of the cabin include a headliner with 3D structure and the brand’s curved display with an M-specific user interface.

The BMW Concept XM’s electric-only range is up to 80 km (WLTP), or 30 miles according to preliminary EPA estimates. BMW newly developed the M Hybrid drive system for the concept, which comprises an eight-cylinder engine and a high-performance electric motor. The total output is 750 horsepower, and the peak torque is 737 pound-feet.

The BMW XM is primarily intended for the US car market. The series production is slated to begin in late 2022 at the plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
