BMW 8 Series Improves Position of the Brand in the Luxury Segment

The all-new BMW 8 Series lineup together with the latest-generation BMW 7 Series and the flagship BMW X7 boosted sales of the Bavarian brand in the luxury segment by 60%. BMW reports record results last month.

BMW’s global sales in October 2019 exceeded 176,000 vehicles. This is the best-ever October in the history of the brand. Compared with the same month last year, sales grew by 3%, according to BMW Group’s press release.

Success in the luxury class

Models of the revived BMW 8 Series family hit the market. Today buyers are offered a choice of two- and four-door coupes, a convertible and hot M versions.

Given the sales of the new-gen BMW 7 Series Sedan and the all-new BMW X7 flagship crossover, sales of the brand in the luxury segment have grown by almost 60% over the year.

In addition, demand for the BMW X5 increased in October. More than 13,000 units were sold worldwide (+68%).

Since the beginning of the year, the BMW X3 has been perfectly bought. Sales of BMW’s most popular SUV exceeded 256,000 units – 67% more than over 10 months of 2018.

Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG,  emphasizes the record October and the first 10 months of this year.

BMW i3 becomes more popular with age

Last month, sales of BMW’s electrified cars grew by 9%. In particular, the BMW i3 is the most in-demand ever since its launch, with a sales growth by 20%.

As we already reported, the i3 at one time became the touchstone of BMW in the EV segment. The model is one of the best sellers in its class. However, the BMW i3 will not be further developed. The automaker will focus on all new electric vehicles.

BMW sales increased by 2.3% and amounted to 1,778,000 cars through October 2019.
