Nowadays, there is quite a large selection of electric cars on sale in the global market. Here is the list of the best you can buy in Europe.
Which are the best electric vehicles available to purchase in 2022? The choice of electric cars on sale may differ per country just like the customer preferences. Somewhere electric cars are very popular, in Norway, for example, somewhere less popular, like in the USA, but no one doubts that the future belongs to them and that they will eventually replace vehicles with internal combustion engines.
AutoExpress has picked out the best EVs, in their mind, to buy in the United Kingdom now. The TOP 10 list includes the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (1st), Kia EV6 (2nd), Skoda Enyaq (3rd), followed by the Fiat 500, BMW iX, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and two Teslas – Model 3, Model Y.
Why the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is considered to be so good?
This model represents the electric car technology of the next generation. Its performance and charging ability are on par with premium rivals, such as the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.
The Ioniq 5 offers two battery options (58- and 73-kWh), rear- or all-wheel drive, three power outputs: 168, 214, 301 horsepower. The driving range is up to 280 miles. The car is as specious as comfortable; its infotainment system is very good. The fastest top version accelerates from 0 to 60 mph within 5.0 seconds.
The model starts at £37,420 in the UK, and it is from 43,650 USD in the USA, 44,999 CAD in Canada.
The Kia EV6 is the sister vehicle to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, but it is slightly lower and sportier – with a firmer suspension and sharper responses. There are RWD or AWD variants, Standard Range and Long Range versions, GT-Line, and a hot, fastest GT version that accelerates to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
Power outputs range from 167 to 576 hp. The driving range is up to 328 miles. All versions feature ultra-rapid charging at up to 250 kW. The interior is pretty good too, with a pair of curved 12.3-inch screens.
The starting prices are £40,945 (UK), 40,900 USA (USA), 44,995 CAD. The prices shown here are before fees, charges, options, tax credit.
The Enyaq is a typical Skoda: it is practical, well-equipped, comfortable, and fine-to-drive. The driving range can achieve more than 300 miles from a full charge on top models. It is a pity that the brand is not represented in North America: the Skoda Enyaq is a decent vehicle deserving attention, but it is, so to say, too European.
The car offers 5 ‘Design Selections’ to create a certain style: Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite, and ECO Suite. Its standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, Virtual Cockpit, cruise control, climate control, rear parking sensors. The base price is under £35,000.
