Bentley is surviving not the best times for the brand now. Its customers switch to the rivals – German Porsche and American Tesla.
Bentley is losing its customers which prefer other brands. Such a situation forces the automaker to find a way to bring the customers back.
Absence of an electric vehicle in the model range of this luxury brand pushes away the wealthy and progressive buyers, for whom modern technologies are important. As a result, they draw attention to the offerings of competitors.
So, according to Bentley’s head Adrian Hallmark, electric cars will be a chance for the company to grow sales over the next 5-10 years. Today those who want to have a EV go to Porsche or Tesla.
Bentley explains such a long period by two factors. Firstly, electric cars are in demand by only 40% of the customers of the brand. Secondly, modern technologies do not allow creating a battery that would meet the needs of Bentley with its capacity and dimensions.
Bentley has already announced that their electric vehicle will be based on a Porsche Taycan electric version’s platform. It will arrive next year, by the way. The first all-electric Bentley will definitely not be a sports car.
