Audi has introduced the first ever Audi S5 with a 3.0 TDI 6-cylinder diesel motor available for the S5 Coupé and the S5 Sportback. It is the most powerful version in the diesel engine lineup with the best combination of efficiency and performance.
The Audi S5 models now have got a potent diesel V6 with output of 347hp and 516 lb-ft/700Nm of torque. They consume on average 19% less fuel than the predecessors. Combined fuel consumption for both Coupé and Sportback (pictured above) is 37.9mpg (6.2 l/100km), CO2 emissions figure is 259.1 g/mi (161 g/km).
0-62mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time is 4.8 seconds for the S5 Coupé and 4.9 seconds for the S5 Sportback. The electronically limited top speed is 155.3 mph (250 km/h).
The engine features the new-for-the-segment electric powered compressor (EPC) and advanced mild hybrid technology (MHEV). For the first time in the S5 TDI, a powerful 48–volt belt alternator starter is the heart of the mild hybrid system with maximum recuperation power of up to 8kW.
These Audi S5 diesel models come with the eight-speed tiptronic and Quattro all-wheel drive. A wide range of driver assistance systems is available in the Parking, City and Tour packages. Highlights include adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, collision avoidance assist, rear cross traffic assist and turn assist.
The Audi S5 models with TDI engines will be on sale in Europe from May 2019. The starting price in Germany for the S5 Coupé TDI and S5 Sportback TDI is €65,300. The standard equipment includes LED headlights with dynamic turn signals, a S sport suspension, 18-inch wheels, Alcantara-leathered power-adjustable front sport seats, an embossed S logo, seat heating, sportily contoured bumpers.
